Lessons from Legend!

Lessons from Legend!

The Wall of Indian Cricket! Yes before anyone read the next sentence, the name would have come in their mind. It is Sri.Rahul Dravid. I am not going to discuss anything about his career statistics. Let me write other side of my view on him. The reason he doesn’t have any haters among the Cricket fans Inland and overseas is because of his attitude. His attitude both on and off field created a BIG image for him. A person with good name and fame behaves well is really appreciable and they are very less in numbers. If Cricket is gentlemen game, the Dravid is a Gentleman.

Rahul Dravid Observing...Whenever I observe him, I have seen that he observes other players both his team mates and the opponents on field. He has a stylish pose when he  observe others on the field. All players are contributors in each and every game they play for the nation. Everyone has the same vigor and valor while playing for the mother nation. But consistency matters. He had an orthodox batting technique. The reason we remember Rahul Dravid as Wall Of Indian Cricket is because of his consistency. As generation evolves, there are lot of new formats of Cricket has come. It is not that easy to perform consistently in  Test Cricket format.
Many a times, fans sitting in front of Television watching Dravid’s game by biting their nails. Keeping his wicket safe to increase the score on board is the biggest responsibility in the middle order. It helps any team to play a safer game while batting first and also when chasing. Once Shane Warne praised him in an interview that he can even face Sachin Tendulkar but not Dravid. Fast, Medium Fast, Off Break, Leg Break, Right Arm etc., whatever technique you use, he defends with one technique.  He assess the bowlers well and defends not only with the bat but also with his patience. This is a psychological defense.
His aggression will not be in batting aggressively or by shouting or by showing off but by encountering all balls with more focus and patience. The level of patience that he had practiced over a period of his tenure cannot by touched by anyone as that is his biggest record.
To be a consistent performer, one should take his formula. Patience and Playing safe when it connects well and not by choosing a wrong shots carelessly. It comes with sheer practice. Practicing to be calm in any adverse situation is the biggest strength. It can be applied in our routine life as well. Youngsters of these days can take this as mantra. When you are calm, you can think more. When you react, your emotions are exposed and it can be a tool for others to easily trap you. However, let us not give a chance to others to trap us emotionally. Be calm and face the Storm.
